In Memoriam Charles J. WitzInaugural Board President

Charles J. Witz was a pioneering Chicago rock music promoter and attorney, a world-class backgammon player, and a dedicated non-profit leader who always had time for family, friends, and good causes.

In the early 1970’s he promoted many top music artists including Janis Joplin, The Grateful Dead, Smokey Robinson, The Doors, and Three Dog Night.

Charlie then went on to a successful general law practice in Chicago, and to community service promoting AIDS research as a board member of Northwestern Memorial and Illinois Masonic Hospitals. He helped found the “Rubber Duck Race” in Chicago that benefits the Special Olympics and is still active today.

After a long and full life, Charlie passed in September, 2016 – just as his new non-profit cause was starting up. His advice and wisdom were instrumental in launching Descendants Media Group, and he will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
